You are about to start the planning and information gathering for a final piece in this class. You are going to be given a lot of freedom in this piece however there are going to be requirements you will need to fulfill along the way.
Choices you will make:
Content- What this piece is about.
Medium/Materials
Size
Requirements:
Detailed documentation of process (beginning to end). Much of this will be found in blog form, for many this will involve sketchbook work, research, links to photos and other information.
One on one scheduled meetings/check-ins with me. These will happen in class and will occur once a week. This is a great chance to check in about your idea, process, materials, etc.
2 scheduled class critiques where peers will provide feedback. As always what you do with feedback from your peers or myself is up to you but it is important to document this and process this internally. One critique will happen mid project and one will happen at the end before you final reflection.
4 blog posts (more if you feel they are necessary) Prompts will follow.
1. Initial idea description-links to source material and any other forms of inspiration that you are looking at.
2.&3. During the process, any obstacles you have run into, any questions that have popped up, any changes in your original idea that have occur ed. Please include photos of process and product so far.
4.Reflection. Quality photos of final piece.

Term 3 thinking........

Congratulations you have made it to term 3 and you are about 40 days away from being a Sophomore. As we near the end of the school year this is the perfect time to reflect and set some attainable goals.
I have seen great artistic growth in all of you this year. Try and think way way back to the early Fall and how it felt to start a project and carry it through to completion. Now think to the symbolic portrait you just finished and how your process felt. Can you identify any changes in your process, approach, work habits, attitude, skill set, etc?
Please talk about this artist growth. Feel free to give any examples of projects that felt like pivotal moments. Do you have any goals or hopes for the end last projects of the class?
Symbolic Portrait Reflection

After completing your symbolic portrait please make a post on your blog that:
1. Includes a photo of the final piece.
2. Please talk about your process (idea to final piece). How did you decide on the person? What did you choose to represent them? Why?
3. How important do you feel it is for the viewer to understand the meaning (idea/personal connection) behind your piece? Why? or Why not?

Book Project Blog Reflection
This project had many steps and for most people was precess heavy, so as we begin to reflect consider the following and elaborate:
-Project sheet-Located on my site, What was asked of you?
-Examples given-Slide show on site, examples from other AP classes, examples around the school.
-Choosing your book-How did you choose? Did you know what you were looking for? Were you
drawn to the physical qualities of the book? The content? Both? or Neither?
-Initial ideas for this piece? Did your idea(s) change or stay consistant with original sketchbook
brainstorming.
-Obstacles- When/if you encountored any? How did you adapt or overcome these? How did your
idea change and why? If you had to do it over? Were these obstacles materials or concept related?
-Final Product- Thoughts on how it turned out?
Please elaborate in your reflection and include pictures. This blog post should be posted on your blog and be 2-3 paragraphs.

Song Reflection

Please make a blog post that speaks to your process. This post should be at least 1-2 paragraphs and should include a photo of your piece and a link to the song or lyrics if not already done in your previous post when you started this project.
--Describe what was it like to go from a song to something visual?
-What was the inspiration for your visual piece? (lyrics, mood, artist, does the song make you think of something personal like a memory? etc)
-Do you think you were successful in portraying your idea? Why or why not?
-What do you think the artist of the song would say about your piece?
When you finish your blog and there is still time left in class, this would be a perfect chance do work in your sketchbook and think back to the sketchbook themes we came up with way way back in September.

Please make a blog post:
Title and Artist
Do some research to find out the artist's intent for the song.
Include a link to the song. Youtube, etc.
Is it well known?
What is the song about?
What do you like about it? Or what do you dislike?
What is the mood of the song?
What do you think of when you hear it? How does it make you feel?
How do you think you could visually represent the song?
